We are proud to have two local tertiary institutions, Lincoln University and the University of Canterbury, as our principal sponsors.

In 2013, the fair will be held on Sunday the 25th of August and Monday the 26th of August, see Key Dates for more detailed information) at The Addington Events Centre, Twigger Street, Christchurch.

This event attracts up to 400 entries from Intermediate Schools, Secondary Schools and Home Schools throughout the region.

The Fair has been held in Christchurch for over 30 years and throughout this time has grown considerably in size and reputation to become one of the premier Science and Technology events in New Zealand.

The Fair is organised by an independent committee consisting of:

  • Members of Christchurch Kiwanis Clubs
  • Members of the Canterbury Science Teachers’ Association
  • Representatives from CPIT, Lincoln University and the University of Canterbury
  • A representative from Environment Canterbury
  • Other interested people.

We are very fortunate to be able to draw on the experience of over 100 well qualified judges from research organisations, industry and the education sector who are willing give up their time to encourage the exhibitors to follow their interest in science and technology.

The “Best in Fair” exhibit may be nominated for a National Science and Technology event called “Realise the Dream”.

In 2010 both Hadleigh Frost and Rueben Posthuma were nominated for “Realise the Dream” and won prizes at the awards ceremony. Rueben won a prize for leadership skills and Hadleigh won one of two Royal Society prizes for a science workshop in Sydney.
